I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope He has given to those He called—His holy people who are His rich and glorious inheritance. // Ephesians 1:18 NLT
Let us then, value highly all the comforting works of the Holy Spirit, seeing they are evidences to us of his love and power. // John Owen
But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. // Acts 20:24
How is God using you today to proclaim His good news? Do you desire a life of holiness?
Make me know the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul. //Psalms 143:8b
This is compelling verse even at first glance but if we look at the greek we find two words that are profound, first we see lift and then soul. In the context of this verse lift has many meanings, but we must understand that this lifting or giving forth is done for the LORD, as if to give Him all that we are. Since the context of soul means: a soul, living being, life, self, person, desire, passion, appetite, emotion. We must infer that everything that we feel, think and worship must be to the glory of God. This is profond to me because I often think of my soul as just a little piece of me, but in reality it is the very depth of who I am.
The greatest enemy to human souls is the self-righteous spirit which makes men look to themselves for salvation. //Charles Spurgeon
