Make me know the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul. //Psalms 143:8b
This is compelling verse even at first glance but if we look at the greek we find two words that are profound, first we see lift and then soul. In the context of this verse lift has many meanings, but we must understand that this lifting or giving forth is done for the LORD, as if to give Him all that we are. Since the context of soul means: a soul, living being, life, self, person, desire, passion, appetite, emotion. We must infer that everything that we feel, think and worship must be to the glory of God. This is profond to me because I often think of my soul as just a little piece of me, but in reality it is the very depth of who I am.
